The First Step to Care:

Why HDHF Needs Your Support

Before a patient ever sees a physician, their care has already begun.

It begins the moment they arrive.

For many, that moment should be simple; pulling in, parking, and walking through our doors. But when systems are outdated or the layout no longer meets the needs of our growing community, even that first step can feel more complicated than it should.

We’ve seen patients and families navigating parking, entry points, and outdated gate systems during moments that are already stressful or urgent. And it’s a reminder that how someone arrives matters just as much as what happens inside.

When someone comes to the hospital, their focus should be on their health, their loved one, or the care they are about to receive, not on where to go, how to get in, or delays at the gate. These small moments can shape the entire experience, especially when time, comfort, and clarity matter most.

You helped transform care inside the hospital… now we need your help outside the doors.

This spring, the Hanover and District Hospital Foundation is launching the Pathway to Care Parking Lot Upgrade - an important step in improving how patients and families access care from the very beginning.

This project will modernize entry and exit systems, improve flow throughout the lot, and create a more accessible, welcoming arrival experience for every person who comes through our doors. It’s about making that first step feel easier, more intuitive, and more supportive, no matter the reason for the visit or the season outside.

Every day, members of our community come to the hospital during some of life’s most vulnerable moments. By improving how they arrive, we can help ensure their experience begins with confidence, dignity, and care.

We hope you will consider making a gift to support this important project.

Because care doesn’t start at the bedside.

It starts the moment you arrive.

And with your support, we can make that first step better for everyone.
